Fresh ICT and Cybersecurity professional with background in education and customer service. Looking for a job.
The purpose of this site is to present my skills and projects in wider scale to let employers know they should hire me.
Got hand-picked to "Cyber Protection Team", Turku Uni. of Applied Sciences student group that received deeper-level cybersecurity training to take part in Capture-the Flag competitions and Cybersecurity events.
- I learned: During CTFs and also in general, it's important to share and disseminate all information with low threshold on what you know and what you're doing - you never know too much.
I took part in the CTF of Disarray hacker cruise 2024. My team finished on second place, since seasoned cybersecurity veterans passed our score on last minute. (See picture of a happy man at the top of this page.)
- I learned: Knowing the basic tools often is enough, when you also have perseverance and patience. Great things can be achieved with people you didn't know before, if you can cooperate and communicate with them.
I achieved a high grade point average in my cybersecurity studies (approx. 4,70 out of 5,00). This was one of my goals when I began studying again.
- I learned: High GPA and credits don't help you when applying for an IT job - experience and own projects help you more through proving your skills exist. With (formerly) educated skills, it's quite easy to pursue own interest and develop skills further in own hobby projects.
I've been a voluntary firefighter for a while already. I wanted to put my newly acquired skills to good use, and helped at the fire station with e.g.:
Project purpose: Develop and deepen skills. Voluntary work for good intention.
- I learned: Configuring network device settings is not hard when you have the right knowledge base. You just need a well-proportioned combination of googling, reading official documentation, and raw testing. Also, documenting what you've done is almost equally important as the actual work done.
I'm converting my old laptop to type 1 (bare metal) hypervisor - Proxmox. I followed this blog post as a tutorial.
During my studies, I wrote a report on open network ports of housing companies found through open sources.
- I learned: Lifetime device management should be invested in when building and designing technical systems.
(See my linkedin post for elaboration)
I want to have a wider audience to increase the possibility of an employer to find out about me.
